The job & the person.
Currently Whittaker’s have a vacancy in their Engineering team for a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer. We’re looking for a Mechanical Fitter, with Machining experience, who has experience in maintaining high-speed production machinery, to Help improve equipment availability and efficiency.

You will deal with a variety of equipment, so will need a versatile background and will be a self-starter able to work autonomously or in a team.

Are you: 

  • Trained and certified as a Fitter/Turner or Mechanical Maintenance & Diagnostic Technician
  • Someone with at least 5 years’ experience in maintaining high-speed machinery (food industry experience a bonus) and with the ability to machine up replacement parts
  • A person who understands the need to get things running ASAP
  • Someone with experience in both preventative maintenance and its place in ensuring equipment availability and efficiency
  • A team player but still able to work on your own
  • Able to manage and prioritise your time
  • Someone prepared to take the initiative and ‘get stuck in’
  • Able to work an afternoon shift (4pm to 2am, 4 days a week), approx. 1 week in every 4, and Saturdays as required
