Mechanical Maintenance Fitter

Join a highly successful, locally owned timber processing site in the heart of the Bay of Plenty. This is a hands-on mechanical role offering long-term stability and a genuinely supportive workplace culture. You’ll be part of a close-knit maintenance team that values collaboration, care for one another, and strong connections to the local community.

Working as a team
When production stops, your work begins! From Friday to Sunday, you and the wider maintenance team will carry out scheduled maintenance on industrial bearings, conveyors, belts/chains, hydraulics, and all the equipment you’d expect to find in a timber mill. You’ll also have the option to join the shift maintenance team during the Monday–Thursday production week, giving you the chance to see the plant in action while topping up your weekly hours.

Up to the challenge?

  • Qualified Fitter/Turner or Fitter/Welder (trade certificate or equivalent)
  • Strong hands-on skills with hydraulics, pneumatics, conveyors, and bearings
  • Ability to tackle breakdowns and rectify issues
  • Welding and fabrication experience an advantage
  • Flexible, proactive, and safety-conscious team player

What’s on offer

  • Southern Cross health insurance and life cover
  • Paid volunteering days through our “Give More” community programme
  • A culture built on support, camaraderie, and celebrating achievements
  • Long-term stability with a proudly New Zealand–owned company
  • Tool support: access to shared specialist equipment plus assistance with personal kits

This is your chance to join a team where people stay not just for the work, but for the sense of belonging, community connection, and the supportive environment that makes every day enjoyable.
