The Role:
The newly created position of Packaging Development Manager will play a key part in the company’s innovation team by supporting all aspects of packaging development, providing technical expertise and support to manufacturing, and working with customers and suppliers to deliver the latest evolution of sustainable packaging.
 
As the only Packaging person within the group, this is a blend of hands-on packaging technologist responsibilities with strategic management of the packaging department.  As such, this is an ideal role for someone to step into to develop their broader experience with the support of a highly experienced technical team.
 
Your Profile:
A strong background in packaging technology within an FMCG operations environment is critical for this role due to the highly competitive and regulated sector that our clients operate within.  You’ll have a broad base of packaging types experience, ideally including cans, plastics, sachets, etc., and seek out new cutting edge packaging technologies to balance practical and cost-effective solutions with environmentally sustainable applications. Critical to this role and to the business will be your personality and attitude to working within a collaborative team.  Key preferences on background are:

  • Relevant education such as Food or Packaging technology/engineering
  • 5 years of packaging related experience in R&D/Operations or in NPD with some packaging exposure
  • Experience in project management of complex projects involving packaging development
  • Experience with various types of primary and secondary packaging
  • Customer focussed
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Self-starting with a passion for making things happen
  • High levels of energy and commitment
