Quality Control Technician

The Company: Whittaker’s is New Zealand’s biggest chocolate manufacturer and has won New Zealand’s ‘Most Trusted Brand’ 15 times in a row.  They live by the belief that ‘best is always better’, insisting on using only the finest ingredients, the best methods, most precise machinery, and the best people to keep making good honest chocolate. Whittaker’s are currently seeking an experienced Quality Control Technician to join their tight knit, and self-sufficient afternoon shift team.

The Role:
Playing a critical part in ensuring the factory continues to deliver high-quality chocolate to customers, this role will cover but is not limited to the following tasks:

  • Conducting daily audits and line GMP walks
  • Maintaining accurate and complete records
  • Collecting retention samples
  • Inspecting the condition of finished goods before they leave the factory
  • Alerting QA of any issues and non-compliant processes or products

The afternoon shift starts from 4.00pm through to 2.00am, Monday to Thursday. Flexibility to support weekend shift work is also required.

You, the Candidate: Without a Quality manager on shift, the afternoon shift team requires a strong problem solver, critical thinker, and experienced QC Technician that has the confidence to step up when required. This role is all about attention to detail, being capable of managing your own tasks and time, building rapport with the wider factory team, and meticulously following company procedures and policies. The ideal candidate will also bring:

  • At least 1 years’ experience working in a GMP food manufacturing facility with knowledge of relevant food safety standards
  • Prior experience in a Quality Control position is highly preferred but not essential
