The Company
Our client, based in Christchurch, is an innovative developer and manufacturer of natural ingredient based nutritional products. With their purpose-built facilities, the company has been able to develop and deliver new products to their established and growing global customer base.

The Company has invested heavily in new capacity and capabilities to create a facility that is globally unique in its ability to process marine, animal, and botanical raw materials through to Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API) powders and oils via its portfolio of processing and extraction technologies.

The Role
The Quality Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily activities of the Quality Assurance team of three to ensure smooth QA operations and compliance with customer and regulatory agency standards for quality and food safety. Among other duties, you’ll be responsible for ensuring the effective implementation and adherence to all compliance programs, including RMP, National Programme 2, HACCP, SOP, GMP, HALAL, MPI, ISO 9001 and procedures.

Requirements
The Quality Manager is expected to create and maintain a workplace culture that engages and motivates team members at all levels, and you will therefore be a great communicator with sound leadership skills. You will come with a background in the meat, food, dairy, pharmaceutical, or nutraceuticals sectors and have a strong grasp of QA functions, and experience with RMPs, MPI, and OMARs. You will come with a flexible and dynamic approach but maintain good decision-making skills.

In addition, the successful candidate will ideally possess the following attributes:

  • A science related tertiary qualification
  • Be an experienced QA professional (minimum 5 years in GMP)
  • A background in the meat industry is advantageous
  • Ability to continually evaluate the quality systems and maintain complete documentation to ensure the necessary controls are in place
  • Significant experience managing an RMP and liaising with MPI
  • A sound knowledge of OMAR’s especially EU requirements and certification
  • Proven management/mentoring experience
  • Highly developed communication and organisational skills
  • Auditing experience
  • Be an effective problem solver
