The Company:
Our client is one of New Zealand’s leading pharmaceutical manufacturers providing contract manufacturing and product development services to their customers across, New Zealand, Australia and the world.  Along with bases in USA and the UK, their established New Zealand team offers a wealth of expertise in developing pharmaceutical solutions and their scalable manufacturing capabilities mean they provide CMO options to suit all volumes.
 
The Opportunity:
With the NZ part of the business focusing on the ANZ region, the focus of this newly created role will be to expand business with current customers and actively drive new business opportunities for the CDO and CMO teams. Working collaboratively with these teams and customers, the position is critical in understanding both the needs of the customer and capabilities of the business to quickly build a sustainable pipeline of contracted work. Based in Auckland, the role will require travel.
 
You, the Candidate:
This is a dynamic position where you will need to use your blend of proven business development/portfolio management skills with your learned knowledge of pharmaceutical development and manufacturing to grow a pipeline of work into the business.  You’ll need to quickly establish yourself and target new and existing customers for business without overextending the capability of the plant.  Because of this, it is vital that you have a solid understanding of pharmaceutical sciences or chemistry, have an understanding of relevant pharmaceutical manufacturing processes and of regulatory standards.
 
You must be motivated to achieve high conversion rates and do so in a professional manner that not only maintains longstanding relationships but grows the reputation of the company as one that can be relied upon.

  • To be considered you should possess the following attributes:
  • A tertiary science qualification, preferably chemistry
  • A solid background in commercial pharmaceutical R&D or Operations
  • At least 5 years business development experience supporting a manufacturing business (ideally GMP)
  • A strong financial driver – focused on converting robust opportunities
  • Able to work independently to build new lines of opportunity but collaboratively to accurately offer available services
  • Good technical writing capabilities and ability to understand and convey scientific information
  • A customer-centric approach, with proven relationship-building, communication skills, and strong team-orientation
  • A proactive, enthusiastic approach with high levels of drive and initiative
  • The desire to develop, grow and embrace new ideas and strategies
