YOUR NEW ROLE – SENIOR FITTER
Based in the Mangere workshop, you’ll take on a senior position within a skilled team building and assembling portable crushers, rock mills, and mobile laboratories for the mining sector. This is a hands-on leadership role — you’ll be responsible not only for precision fitting, alignment, and assembly of complex mechanical systems from detailed drawings, but also for coordinating workflow, mentoring junior fitters, and ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and to specification.
You’ll work closely with Engineers, Project Managers, and Production teams to plan builds, allocate resources, and oversee quality standards across multiple concurrent projects. Your ability to organise jobs, troubleshoot technical challenges, and maintain strong workshop discipline will be key to success in this role.
This Monday-to-Friday role offers lifestyle-friendly hours — 6am starts and 2:30pm finishes — ideal for those who value structured days and free afternoons.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING
We’re looking for an experienced, trade-qualified Fitter who can lead from the front. You’ll be confident managing projects in a busy workshop environment and capable of supporting and supervising a small team.
You’ll need:
- Trade qualification in Mechanical Engineering / Fitting & Turning (or equivalent)
- 8+ years’ fitting experience in heavy engineering or machinery builds
- Proven supervisory or leading-hand experience within a workshop environment
- Strong ability to read and interpret complex mechanical drawings
- Experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, fabrication, and precision alignment
- Demonstrated ability to plan, organise, and prioritise multiple projects
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive, solutions-focused mindset
- High standards around quality, safety, and workmanship
- Strong communication skills and the ability to mentor junior staff
