2IC Shift Manager – Canning

The Company: Our client is a well-established nutritional dairy manufacturer that is internationally backed and run from their state-of-the-art manufacturing plant in the North Waikato.

This company is in an exciting phase, having recently taken on new clients and beginning to develop an exciting range of new product lines. They need to expand their team to keep up with the growth in the business, including looking for a driven 2IC Shift Manager to help supervise their canning department.

The Role: As 2IC Shift Manager with 15+ direct reports, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the Canning Shift Manager to drive the plant, people, and processes for blending and canning. You’ll oversee operations during designated shifts, ensuring seamless production, adherence to protocols and the highest standards of product quality.

This will cover ensuring that all production and processes adhere to quality & food safety standards as well as environmental management policies and reporting any deviations in a timely manner. You will also help drive production outputs, by monitoring and reporting manufacturing data and helping motivate the team to achieve targets and KPIs.

Another essential part to this role is contributing to the continuous improvement of systems, processes, and people by collaborating with shift and production managers, contributing ideas and assisting with problem solving, preventative maintenance and ensuring staff  development plans are in place. 
 
You, the Candidate: A capable and confident leader with at least 3 years’ experience in the nutritional dairy industry, the ideal candidate for this role will have an excellent grasp on Lean Manufacturing techniques as well as quality system and H&S practices. You will also have excellent communication skills and experience working with ERP systems (experience with software such as Nemesys, Navision and Stevens would be highly beneficial).

An engineering or food technology degree would be highly regarded or notable work experience in blending and canning dairy plants.
