About the Role
We are seeking a Product Development Technologist / Compliance Technologist to join a successful NZ food manufacturing business in Rotorua. This role is suited to someone with 2–4 years of product development and compliance experience who is looking to grow their career within a supportive and innovative company.

The role is responsible for supporting product development and technical compliance activities across the business. Working closely with the Technical & Development Manager, you will assist with developing concept products, commercialising recipes, supporting production implementation, maintaining technical documentation, and ensuring food safety and quality standards are met.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with new product development from concept through to launch.
  • Support product trials, formulations, and factory implementation.
  • Maintain product specifications and technical documentation.
  • Work closely with production to ensure product quality and consistency.
  • Assist with internal audits, calibrations, testing, and compliance activities.
  • Investigate customer complaints and support corrective actions.
  • Support food safety, HACCP, VACCP, and quality system requirements.


About You
You’ll be someone early in their career with a positive attitude and a keenness to learn and develop your career. You’ll be confident working in a fast paced environment and working alongside quality and production teams. 

  • 2+ years’ experience in food technology or product development.
  • Qualification in Food Technology, Food Science, or similar.
  • Ability to develop concept recipes from product briefs.
  • Ability to develop product labels for new products.
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Hands-on approach and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Keen to build a long-term career within the food industry.
  • Great attitude and communication skills.


Please note, this role is an on-site role based in Rotorua.
