Industrial & Infrastructure Electricians
Industrial & Infrastructure Electricians – Manawatū
Are you a registered electrician looking for variety, independence, and genuinely different work every day? We’re recruiting for a well-established, locally owned electrical services company with a long-standing presence across industrial and infrastructure sites throughout the Manawatū and wider North Island.
This isn’t a single-site, same-shift kind of job. Our client’s teams move between water and wastewater plants, roads, factories, abattoirs, streetlighting, traffic signals, airports, and Defence Force bases, often covering several different jobs and locations in a single day. We’re currently looking to fill two roles.
Industrial Electrician
This is a sole-charge position covering a broad mix of industrial and commercial maintenance and project work, including 24/7 production sites, factory relocations, and a Three Waters contract for Palmerston North (responsive and planned maintenance). You’ll be expected to work independently, manage your own sign-off, and adapt to a different environment most days rather than settling into one plant or one routine.
Responsibilities include:
- Fault-finding, maintenance, and installation work across industrial and commercial sites
- Supporting a Three Waters contract with responsive and scheduled maintenance
- Working solo and managing your own job planning and sign-off
- Moving between multiple sites and job types within the same day
Infrastructure Electrician
This role sits on the infrastructure side of the business, covering airports (including Gisborne, Taupo, Napier, Rotorua, Whanganui, New Plymouth, Palmerston North, and Ōhākea), streetlighting, and traffic signals. It suits someone with a lines or civil background more than a traditional industrial background. All work is low voltage; this isn’t a lines company and doesn’t go near substations or high voltage.
Responsibilities include:
- Maintenance and installation across airport, streetlighting, and traffic signal infrastructure
- Regular travel between North Island sites
- Working to civil and low voltage electrical standards
What we’re looking for (both roles)
- Registered New Zealand electrician
- Solid, hands-on New Zealand work experience; comfortable being sole-charge and independent
- Adaptable to varied sites and daily tasks rather than fixed production-line routine
- Valid New Zealand driver’s licence
- Able to pass a police vet, required for work on Defence Force sites
- New Zealand citizenship or valid visa to work
What’s on offer
- $40-55/hour + Work Vehicle, Tool Allowance
- Overtime at x1.5 before 7am or after 5pm weekdays, weekends, public and statutory holidays
- Relocation support considered for the right candidate
