About the Company:
Technical Recruitment Solutions is partnering with an established, technically focused NZ manufacturing business to find an experienced Lead Technician for their Hamilton facility. They specialise in high-precision injection moulding, supplying quality-critical components across domestic and global markets, and operate to high manufacturing standards with an experienced technical team.

About the Opportunity:
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you’ll provide day-to-day technical leadership across the moulding operation, supporting technicians and production teams to achieve safe, efficient and repeatable manufacturing performance.

You’ll be a hands-on technical leader and escalation point for process troubleshooting, quality investigations, production support and continuous improvement activities, while helping develop the technical capability of the team.

Day to day, you will:

  • Support and optimise moulding processes to improve quality, efficiency and repeatability.
  • Ensure approved process standards and operating procedures are followed.
  • Troubleshoot processing, quality and production issues to minimise downtime and scrap.
  • Support production trials and implementation of process improvements.
  • Review first-off and last-off samples and assist with quality investigations.
  • Assess mould performance and recommend tooling maintenance or improvement opportunities.
  • Monitor production performance and identify continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Coach, mentor and develop technicians and die setters.
  • Support high standards of safety, housekeeping, quality and process control.
  • Work closely with Engineering, Maintenance and Production teams to deliver operational objectives.

You, the Candidate
An experienced injection moulding technician with strong troubleshooting and process optimisation skills, combined with the ability to lead and develop others.

You’ll also bring:

  • Proven experience in injection moulding processing and technical problem-solving.
  • Experience mentoring, coaching or leading technical staff.
  • Strong understanding of process control and root-cause analysis.
  • Good mechanical aptitude and understanding of moulding equipment and tooling.
  • Flexibility to support occasional after-hours technical assistance when required.

Advantageous

  • Exposure to scientific moulding principles.
  • Experience within cleanroom, medical, food-grade or regulated manufacturing environments.
