Senior Operations Engineer

The Opportunity
We are seeking a Senior Operations Engineer to provide technical leadership across manufacturing operations, supporting operational excellence, process optimisation, equipment reliability, and continuous improvement initiatives.
This is a hands-on senior engineering role suited to someone who enjoys solving complex manufacturing challenges, driving improvements, and working cross-functionally between product development and commercial manufacturing.
This is a full-time permanent position working 40 hours per week from 8.30am to 4.30pm Monday to Friday. The role is based onsite in Auckland.
Responsibilities
- Providing senior engineering support across manufacturing and operations.
- Leading troubleshooting and root cause investigations for process and equipment issues.
- Supporting manufacturing performance, process optimisation, and operational efficiency improvements.
- Supporting validation, change control, risk management, and engineering documentation activities.
- Coordinating operational improvement and capital engineering projects.
- Analysing production data, workflows, and operational trends to identify improvement opportunities.
- Mentoring junior engineers and contributing to engineering best practices.
About you
You will bring strong manufacturing engineering experience and enjoy operating in a fast-paced production environment where collaboration and problem-solving are key.
We’re looking for someone with:
- A degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline.
- At least 5 years’ experience in manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering, process engineering, or similar operational roles.
- Experience in regulated industries such as medical devices, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, food manufacturing, or other highly controlled production environments is highly advantageous.
- Experience working with mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, or process-related manufacturing systems
- Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis capability within manufacturing environments.
- A continuous improvement mindset with exposure to Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies beneficial
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively across technical and non-technical teams
- A proactive, analytical, and solutions-focused approach
