The Company: Our client is a well-established nutritional dairy manufacturer. They are internationally backed and run from their state-of-the-art manufacturing plant in the North Waikato.

This company is in an exciting phase, having recently taken on new clients and started developing a range of new product lines. They need to expand their team to keep up with the growth in the business, including looking to find a strong Supplier & Quality Release Lead to support their quality team.

The Opportunity: This role is comprised of three key components. The management of materials and product release, the management of systems and processes to ensure compliance and export eligibility of products, and finally supporting customer complaint investigations and quality reporting.

The successful incumbent will be a key advisor for external customers and suppliers from a quality and food safety perspective in the manufacture and sale of nutritional dairy products. Frequently liaising with external suppliers, customers, procurement, supply chain, and quality, it is vital to ensure the highest standard of compliance and regulations are met.

Working Monday-Friday, 40 hours per week, this role also has 3 direct reports, so some supervisory / team lead experience to support task management and delegation would also be beneficial to this role.

Tasks will include but are not limited to:

  • Managing both materials release and final product release
  • Documenting actions and responses for complainant management from supplier audits
  • Developing and managing the six-sigma program for Ingredients and Finished Products
  • Managing the traceability documentation and mock recall process
  • Supporting non-conformance investigations
  • Maintaining strong and effective relationships with suppliers
  • Managing the Vendor Approval database
  • Ensuring operational compliance with RMP/HACCP/OMAR requirements
  • Managing the Raw Material & Packaging Materials Specs (e.g., Risk Assessment, development, test method verification and ensuring compliance to export and customer requirements
  • Ensuring appropriate testing is set up internally and externally for finished goods, raw materials and packaging materials

You, the Candidate: In this role, your leadership experience and interpersonal skills will be just as important as your Quality and Food Safety knowledge. You will have prior experience in the dairy industry – preferably nutritional dairy – and be familiar with current associated quality standards.

Our client needs an incumbent with a strong background in working with suppliers and customers, as well performing quality audits. Knowledge of VACCP, HACCP and allergen management will be an advantage.

Applicants should also have the following attributes, qualifications, and experience:

  • Science or Food Technology Degree / QA Diploma or similar (preferred)
  • 5+ years QA/QC experience within dairy or food manufacturing sectors
  • Previous experience in regulatory (particularly with GB Standards)
  • 3+ years’ experience working in infant formula or dairy manufacturing environments
  • Auditing qualifications and/or strong experience in the auditing of suppliers
  • Experience with VACCP, HACCP & Allergen Management
  • Sound computer skills and ability to convert data into useful, user-friendly information
