Tooling Maintenance Engineer

Operations are based out the North Shore and the facility which is home to an impressive range of injection, blow-moulding and plastic extrusion machines. Their capabilities range from packaging tooling/design, product development, and long & short-run manufacturing – they also have their machine shop and toolroom.

THE ROLE
Monday to Friday 7 am-3 pm it’s up to you to keep a range of plastic tools in tip-top shape. From the well-equipped toolroom, you will operate manually operated lathes, mills and surface grinders. You will strip down machines, and inspect for defects and wear/tear before choosing the right course of action. While the primary focus is on tooling maintenance you will also play a key role in the design and machining of new tools for new products. For more variety, you will also lend your skills to wider maintenance tasks on auxiliary equipment and the facility.

WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR
This is essentially the sole tooling maintenance function within the business so we need a proven tradesperson with a strong background in plastics/tooling. You will need

  • Manual/bench turning, milling and grinding experience is a MUST
  • Relevant Trade Certificate in toolmaking/machining or similar
  • Familiar with injection moulding, blow moulding, hot runners and wedge plates
  • Enjoy working in collaboration with multiple departments
  • Good housekeeping and tidy habits
  • Hold NZ working rights

WHAT’S ON OFFER?
To attract the BEST this role will have a base salary of over $100k for a tidy 40-hour week with very rare overtime (if any). You will also receive a tool allowance and enjoy routine social activities.
