How The Manufacturing Industry Stands

Manufacturers have raised an alarm on the industries talent shortage, specifically asking for more young talent. Companies have been forced to pick up speed in terms of moving forward and keeping up with technological changes.

Robotic engineering has “eliminated mundane tasks and boosted management opportunities” creating an exciting prospect for the future of the industry.  However, it is believed that many young New Zealanders tend to look past manufacturing as a possible career path. Others are not offered the option to work in the industry in the first place.

Many people who think that manufacturing is just banging a hammer all day are wrong. Technology, robotics and automation make it an exciting industry to work in right now. The introduction of robotics has allowed New Zealand’s niche companies to compete against international manufacturing and engineering companies. The industry is recommended to anyone who enjoys a fast moving, hands on, social environment.

This years theme is focused on what is dubbed the fourth industrial revolution of automation and internet connected technology called  ‘Industry 4.0′
